An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Compliance Manager at our Avonmouth site, in which you would identify, manage, control, and deliver in full, all aspects of food safety and legal compliance both for brand and own label customer standards. A big part of the role would be supporting the technical manager and site in managing and developing site systems and teams to ensure effective delivery of an operationally excellent food manufacturing facility in line with business requirements. What will you be doing? Ensuring the site meets company, retailer, industry, operational and legal standards. Providing technical support to other site functions and the wider business. Managing complaints investigations, determining root causes, and implementing timely corrective and preventive actions. Supporting the Technical Manager and stepping in when needed. Leading and efficiently closing external audits. Managing the internal audit program to promote compliance and drive improvement. Being an approachable and proactive member of the Site Management Team, offering expertise on technical, food safety, compliance, and quality matters while contributing to broader business initiatives. Developing and delivering food safety and quality training programs. Investigating food safety, compliance, and quality issues, identifying root causes, and implementing preventive actions. Overseeing the site's corrective action program to foster continuous improvement. Providing trend information and reports on key quality/safety indicators and implementing measures for ongoing enhancement. Serving as the primary point of contact for day-to-day technical matters. Actively participating as a member of the HACCP team. You will be able to understand workstreams and identify critical paths from a delivery perspective. We're looking for someone who has true leadership qualities and can take ownership of this function within Hovis. You'll own what you do and have a knack for influencing different stakeholders in a positive way. Your positivity, encouragement, and consistency will help you guide individuals towards specific tasks and behaviours. What are ‘must haves’ from you? Third Level Qualification in relevant Food Science / Technology discipline Food Safety Management experience BRC & third-party audit exposure Strong background in HACCP principles Experience of working with Retailers Excellent communication & influencing skills Auditing experience Action-oriented and energetic Good Verbal & Numeracy skills Experience of delivering Training IT literate What would be ideal?
