Engineering Design Manager

Job Title :Engineering Design Manager Job Type :Permanent Location :Coventry, West Midlands Salary :£DOE Industry :Off Highway Premier Engineering has engaged with a key client and a world leading manufacturer of Off Highway Machinery. Due to a recent restructure new opportunities have arisen within the engineering divisions. We are currently recruiting for an Engineering Design Manager (Mechanical bias) to join at this exciting time on a permanent basis. Hours of Work : Mon -Thurs 08.30-12.30 13.00-17.00 (Plus Flex) Friday 08.30 - 14.00 (Plus Flex) Purpose of Role: Primary responsibility is to drive engineering changes across multiple products and processes, and continuously improve engineering activities. This includes control and allocation of his/her team resource according to the priorities and projects assigned tohim/her. Main duties and responsibilities :

• Ensure that engineering change management is conducted to agreed deadlines, cost, quality and standards.
• Ensure all engineering changes are documented in line with the common engineering organisation standards.
• Control and allocate resource according to priorities and projects assigned.
• Ensure resources and cost can be attributed to projects to allow good project cost control using the common engineering organisation standards.
• Identifying and managing opportunities for improvements in processes and projects to drive continuous improvement actions through to successful completion.
• Collaborating with various teams to ensure successful delivery of all engineering change activities.
• Fully support the Head of Technical Support Services in the management and development of local technical competencies in accordance with the company strategy.
• Fully support the Head of Technical Support Services in managing communication, training and implementation of agreed regional and global engineering practices and standards.
• Responsible for all Health and Safety activities under his/her team.
• Manage & Coach the Design Engineering team

Experience :

• Have held roles as project manager and/or engineering team leader with responsibility for significant engineering changes.
• Have demonstrateda good understanding of engineering organisations, support systems and processes.
• Have experience in providing direct engineering support to manufacturing units.
• Have held a role as an engineering manager with complete responsibility for product, people and budget.

Key Skills :

• Business acumen
• Functional / technical skills relevant for driving engineering change
• Awareness of project-based methodologies for managing engineering change
• Good working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems.
• A design engineering or mechanical system integration background, skilled in 3D CAD software
