We have a temporary, on-going placement available for a waste recycling assistant to be based at Prestwich Hospital.

Main duties and responsibilities :

  • Assist with the rollout program of offensive non-infectious healthcare waste bags across the Trust. This will also include carrying out waste audits while on location.
  • Help improve waste segregation in the GMMH Recycling Yard by stripping disused furniture down and placing it in the relevant skips to ensure it gets recycled.
  • Identifying incorrect segregation of waste in the recycling yard and raising it to the relevant teams, so they can address it.
  • Support the Trusts reuse platform by helping process unwanted furniture and listing it on the Trusts reuse platform. This will also entail liaising with Transport to ensure successful claims are delivered to the relevant services.
  • Assist with waste recycling projects to help improve the waste segregation of healthcare waste in line with the Health Technical Memorandum 07-01 Safe Management of Healthcare Waste.

Skills and attributes.

  • Proficient with all Microsoft Packages (Word, Excel) to help support the Waste and Environmental Manager with waste administration tasks.
  • Driving Licence essential as you will be required to visit all trust locations to monitor all waste streams.
  • Excellent communications skills in all forms (verbal and written)
