Van Assistant

Tazaki Foods Ltd is currently recruiting for a Van Assistant on a full time basis, to work Monday to Friday from 08:00 - 17:00. The salary on offer is £22,000 plus 28 days holidays including bank holidays (increasing up to 35 days with length of service), free secured parking, pension auto enrolment with up to 5% Employer contribution, Life Assurance, Staff discount together with continuous developments and long term career prospects and social events throughout the year.

The role : The purpose of the job is to assist our drivers in the delivery of our goods in full, on time and in good condition taking all precautions to avoid damage or delay. In doing so, to provide an efficient and courteous service to our customers.

Key Tasks/ Responsibilities :

• To keep a clean and tidy appearance at all times.
• To wear the staff uniform and name tag as provided.
• Report any personal accidents immediately to Transport Manager and Supervisors.
• Ensure that you are familiar with Company procedures in case of an accident.
• At no time to use the Company vehicle for private use.
• Check all items for delivery before loading together with the Driver and/or Operations or Warehouse Manager.
• Help load the vehicle.
• Help in the delivery of the goods in accordance with instructions received taking note of any special instructions for particular customers.
• To avoid breakages either when loading or unloading or unsafe stacking or caused by the manner of your carrying. To use internal straps to secure products when necessary.
• To co-operate with the driver at all times.
• To always be polite and helpful to the customer.
• To communicate to the Transport Manager and Supervisors of any problems or queries from customers immediately they are received and to seek instructions.
• To get a signed Proof of Delivery from the customer on delivery.
• To notify the Transport office immediately of any returns specially frozen and ask for instructions.
• To report to Transport Supervisors at the end of your day’s work.
• To complete a Returned Goods sheet for all items returned and to put with goods in Returns Area.
• To assist in the warehouse as instructed by the Transport or Operations Manager.
• To check and prepare outbound goods ready for transport subcontractors.
• To only operate LOLER equipment if holding the correct license and with management permission.
• Working with Technical Department accountable for all Food Safety, Legality and Hygiene matters in the company.
• To comply and enforce company policies and procedures to ensure food quality/ safety checks and paperwork are completed as per document requirements.
