Customs Controller – 12-month Fixed Term Contract Pertemps are currently recruiting for a Customs Controller on behalf of our client based in Market Drayton, Shropshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for collating data, verifying information, and liaising with colleagues & third parties for the timely submission of Imports & Exports Customs declarations. Hours: Mainly Mon-Fri | 40 hours per week – Bank holidays will be workable on a rotating basis| Hybrid optional once trained. Salary: £25,000 per annum. Duties Include but not limited to: Customs Compliance - Exports • Liaise internally to combine data on the daily exports and prepare paperwork for the Official Vets to inspect export loads and obtain the relevant Export health Certificates. • Prepare Export instructions and pro forma invoices for all loads leaving the UK . • Apply for batch Export Health Certificates to maintain continual supply. • Liaise with Customs Brokers, vets, hauliers, and all relevant authorities to ensure all the appropriate documentation for export is correct and completed within a timeline. • Monitor the busy Exports email inbox, resolve queries, or escalate to the Customs Team Leader / Customs Team Manager as appropriate. • Preparation of samples shipments, communicating with R&D and all departments, booking with fast parcel company, and providing relevant paperwork. • Complete supplementary declarations on the TSS portal for each month within the deadline. • Support new team members with guidance and training. • Support senior colleagues with ad hoc tasks and project work as required. Customs Compliance - Imports • Collate & review supplier information to prepare import instructions for the Customs Brokers. • Monitor expected deliveries, liaise with the Material Control Team, Procurement & Suppliers to ensure no delays to deliveries. • Monitor the busy Customs email inbox, resolve queries, or escalate to the Customs Adviser as appropriate. • Provide clearance information to Fast Parcel operators to enable clearance of goods. • Complete all required paperwork for the re-export of returned / rejected goods. • Support the Senior Customs Adviser as required with any ad hoc information requests / data collection etc. • Import licences - monitor expected deliveries and work with senior colleagues to ensure appropriate licences are in place. • IPAFFS entries/CHED for POAO • Continuous monitoring of UK Global Tariff and documenting any changes Ideal Candidate: • Good working knowledge of Word and Excel • Hands on attitude • Accuracy and attention to detail • Be able to prioritise and work to tight deadlines. • Ability to find information which might be difficult to obtain and to challenge processes. • Drive, enthusiasm and ability to achieve goals. • Flexible, responsive, and resourceful when reacting to changing work demands. • 1-2 years’ experience in a Customs environment • Ability to interact and work as part of team as well as on own initiative. • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills Company Benefits: • Competitive Salary. • Bonus scheme. • Health Care Package. • Contributory pension plan. • Life Assurance. • Employee Assistance Programme. • Generous annual leave increasing with service. • Flexible benefits programme • Rewards Benefits Programme, giving you a range of discounts across 800 retailers online and in store.
