Role: Head of Procurement

Contract: Permanent

Salary : 75,000pa

Location: Cannock

As a Head of Procurement you will be responsible for;

  • Developing a Group-wide procurement strategy - to encompass supply arrangements in the UK and Republic of Ireland, and maintain an open dialogue with Group businesses in the USA and Mexico to optimise global-scale opportunities
  • Establish and oversee Group-wide procurement policies, including appropriate delegated authorities and a governance framework to ensure compliance is effectively managed
  • Develop insightful reporting to measure the effectiveness of the Group’s procurement activity and inform future strategy & decision making
  • Work across the Group’s businesses and functions to establish and maintain a best-in-class segmented procurement approach, with effective prioritization of higher tier suppliers. Challenge current practice where needed, gaining buy-in from senior leadersand maximising the use of existing expertise across the business
  • Implement and lead a Group category management capability, including external benchmarking, KPI development/monitoring and cost/service optimization - making best use of relevant MI available in the Group and externally. Establish and lead a ‘right-sized’team of category managers to support this activity
  • Work across the Group’s senior leaders to develop a consensus-based approach to the prioritization of commercial aims from future procurement activity, including: warranties, marketing/technical/ training contributions, price reduction, rebates or ancillaryproduct/parts discounts
  • Ensure appropriate and robust contracts, with appropriate commercial terms and SLAs, are in place for all suppliers
  • Proactively manage 3rd party risk exposure, assessing key supply chain risks and establishing appropriate continuity plans
  • Establish and coordinate e2e tender/renewal/onboarding frameworks and processes, that are appropriate to the business’s needs, make the best use of expertise across the business and have agreed milestones and governance steps
  • Work with senior leaders across the Group, using own functional expertise, to inform decisions on when it is appropriate to renew, go to tender or move to dual/multiple sourcing for specific future supply arrangements
  • Identify and deliver opportunities for cost reduction across the Group’s supply chain, including make/buy-related opportunities, and support the inclusion of existing and potential cost reduction targets in the Group’s financial plans

As a Head of Procurement you will ideally demonstrate;

  • Extensive experience of shaping procurement strategy and processes
  • Extensive experience of working in a complex, multi-functional organisation
  • CIPS Qualified
  • Extensive experience of leading a tender and renewal programme
  • Substantial experience of working in a busy commercial environment

As a Head of Procurement you will command;

  • A base salary up to £75,000
