Job Role: Domiciliary Optical Assistant Apprenticeship

Location: Office base is Stapleford and Domiciliary areas cover Derby, Nottingham, and Loughborough

  • Initially you will be shadowing for 2-3 months, it is anticipated you will be travelling independently up to 30 or 40 miles a day, 4 days a week, once fully trained. _

Working hours: Full-time Monday to Friday 37.5 hours

No weekend or Bank Holiday working

Who is this Apprenticeship for?

  • Recent college leavers OR those looking for a new challenge
  • Individuals with GSCE Maths at Grade 9-4 (A-C) or above, or an equivalent level qualification
  • Individuals who have lived in the EU for 3 years or more, with the right to work in the UK
  • Driving license and own transport is essential

What does the role involve?

  • Visiting patients in their own homes and care homes
  • Providing a personal service within the community
  • Measuring frames
  • Providing style advice
  • Fitting and adjusting spectacles

This role within the community offers diversity and freedom in your working day. It will allow you the opportunity to develop personal skills and make a real difference to the quality of a person’s life by providing eye care to vulnerable patients in their own homes. You will be joining a small, friendly team of 16 people, with a real focus on cohesion and unity. You will find an excellent support structure to help you develop and learn in your career. With regular training and teambuilding sessions you will be joining a fun and relaxed place to work. Patient care is at the heart of what we do, and the passion of our team comes across in our interactions with our patients.

What will you gain?

Your on-the-job training will sit alongside structured learning that will lead to a nationally recognised qualification. At the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll be a fully-fledged Level 3 Optical Assistant . Over the course of 15-18 months with us, you will:
