We at ASQ Education are on the lookout for an experienced Teaching Assistant to support the SEND department of an Ofsted Outstanding South London school within the Borough of Southwark. Preferably the school are looking for an individual with previous experience in a school or relevant SEND department. The school would also consider recent graduates who aspire to become teachers in the future and can demonstrate how they will support young& vulnerable pupils.

The Role In the role of a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will be expected to support your pupils throughout the school day. Under the direction of the SENCO, the school are eager to support their Teaching Assistants in delivering outstanding support to their key students.The team you will be working with are supported by trained professionals who will support you throughout the day. The team would like someone who is grounded & dependable as well as being proactive in your approach. You will be expected to support both the teaching and support staff effectively, as well as co-operating with parents or carers, students, and external agenciesto ensure safeguarding laws are always adhered to. As such, anyone with a background centred around working within a SEND team as well as a recognised ability to support children and young people to improve their learning will be highly regarded

  • Experience in working with children who have SEN (desirable)
  • Capacity to form honest working relationships with students, parents or carers and colleagues alike
  • Good oral and written communicative skills
  • Good organisational and time management skills as well as the ability to work under pressure
  • To be adaptable and flexible in the work you do and show that you can use your initiative
  • To understand that you must be a good role model for students and colleagues alike
