Design Engineer/Higher Design Engineer - NDT Technologies

We have an exciting opportunity for a graduate or industrial design engineer to join the non-destructive testing (NDT) area in the Advanced Engineering Materials group at NPL in Teddington. This is home to a unique scientific facility that supports UK industry, alongside a team of internationally recognised scientists and engineers. We develop new test methods to tackle high-risk high-reward measurement challenges that ensure the safety and prosperity of the UK. What You'll be Doing: You will be working within a team of scientists and engineers, helping design and build bespoke machines and test rigs for structural monitoring. You will be carrying out short- and long-term projects for external customers. Your role will include writing safety risk assessments for both on-site and off-site activities. Alongside your role there will be opportunities to learn standardised testing, and also to develop bespoke mechanical testing techniques for the laboratory, and off-site. Your role will mostly be based on-site at Teddington but will include working off-site several times a year on project deployments. Flexibility during some weekends and/or antisocial hours may be required and time in lieu is offered in return. We are recruiting across levels and will consider applications from candidates with varied experience.
