Sanctuary Support Worker - Bank

Hours :Bank

Salary :£11.45 per hour

Based at :9 Portland Road, Aberystwyth

We are looking for a pool of bank staff to join our Ceredigion Adult & CYP Sanctuary to provide practical and therapeutic, holistic person-centred support to people experiencing episodes of mental distress in a non-clinical setting. The team will provide advice, guidance and early interventions that aim to keep people well. The sanctuary service will be operational from 5pm until 2am, 7 days a week, 365 days a year (Adult currently 4 nights p/w & CYP currently 3 nights p/w).

The service aims to:

• Reduce the use of Police, Ambulance and statutory mental health services.
• To improve the mental wellbeing of adults, children and young people experiencing mental health crisis in Ceredigion, and to develop resilience and coping skills.
• To increase early access to help for adults, children and young people experiencing mental health crisis by providing a clear and effective pathway to services provided.
• To remain a source of independent support for all service users.
• To signpost to a range of external agencies including health services, debt/gambling advice, drug and alcohol support services, mental health and counselling services.

No specific qualifications are required however NVQ competencies in Health & Social Care Level 3 or Mental Health First Aid Safeguarding (Adults) Level 2 would demonstrate appropriate competence for the post.
