Description : An exciting opportunity has arisen, supporting a large healthcare organisation as a CHC Specialist Nurse - Children.

The post will be based in the East Midlands with a hybrid working environment, on an interim basis for 3 months, with a day rate of £300.

The post holder will line manage a team to ensure that the health care needs of children and families eligible for Continuing Care are identified and met in accordance with the National Framework.

Main Responsibilities :

  • Contribute to performance improvement, taking a lead for the development of a range of services for children with complex health needs including palliative care services;
  • Responsible for overall day to day management of the Children Clinical Team performance;
  • Oversee the delegation of workload within the team;
  • Undertake and facilitate team to undertake specialist assessments for children with complex needs in relation to care packages, respite care and placements for continuing care;
  • Ensure self and team are promoting Personal Health Budgets, ensuring integration into continuing care;
  • Facilitating, attending, and supporting staff to attend decision making panels to present cases and provide clinical information as appropriate;
  • Case managing continuing care clients ensuring timely reviews are conducted and ascertaining care packages continue to be effectively commissioned and are cost effective;
  • Comply with the Data Protection Act 1998 and Code of Practice on confidentiality and data protection;
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and clinical supervision in line with NMC or other professional guidelines and ensure that the clinical team are supported in the process;
  • Ensure revalidation of own professional registration is maintained;
  • Act as Duty Clinician as required;
  • Provide cover for other Specialist Roles as appropriate;
  • Take a lead in the coordination of training, development, and recruitment activity across the team;
  • Manage staff, undertaking appraisals and ensuring that appropriate training is delivered to staff;
  • Ensure that all complaints, comments, and suggestions are dealt with appropriately, in accordance with policy, resolving where possible and escalating to line manager as appropriate.
  • A Registered Children Nurse (an essential criteria) with demonstrated clinical experience as a Children Nurse, and current registration with the NMC;
  • Able to demonstrate strong knowledge base around safeguarding children and consent issues;
  • Evidence of teaching/mentorship;
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
