Joining a team of 7, working alongside the Technical Lead and reporting to the Commissioning Manager, you will lead the Maritime Operations Team (MarOps) to functionally deliver the Operational on-water capability of Unmanned Surface Vehicles, on behalf of L3Harris (L3H) and external clients. You will provide operational advice on the capability, functionality and constraints of Manned/Unmanned vessels deployed to internal/external trials activities. Additionally, the Maritime Operations Lead is responsible for the care and custody of vessels that are owned or maintained/operated by L3Harris.

What the role will involve

The responsibilities of your role will include the following:

  • Compiling or supporting bids for sea trials or MarOps support activities as appropriate.
  • Safe operation and crewing of manned and unmanned vessels to support trials, testing and sales demonstrations, UK and Overseas.
  • Arrangements for transport and appropriate storage for L3Harris owned and managed vessels.
  • To Liaise with third parties providing storage or berthing contracts for L3H Mar Ops assets, to agree contracting arrangements for the follow-on financial year.
  • Maintaining the in-date coding of all L3H/ customer managed vessels and ensuring all safetyequipment required for coded vessels is in date, maintained and correctly stowed onboard vessels.
  • Maintaining and expanding working relationships with external stakeholders and maritime governing bodies as appropriate

What you’ll bring

The role of Maritime Operations Lead requires the following experience and skills:

  • Recent relevant experience within the maritime sector
  • RYA Yacht master qualified with significant post qualification experience
  • IOSH qualified
  • Displays energy, drive, agility and resilience in achieving work-related goals
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, train and develop other staff members
