About the Role: In the role of HGV Technician, you will play a crucial part in maintaining the operational excellence of our client's fleet. Reporting to the VMU Manager, your expertise will be pivotal in inspecting, maintaining, and repairing Heavy Goods Vehicles to meet and exceed DVSA standards. Key Responsibilities: - Ensure all HGVs are prepared for MOT within the required timescales, adhering to DVSA and Operator's Licence requirements. - Conduct timely and thorough servicing, inspections, and repairs of the fleet, focusing on HGVs. - Accurately complete relevant paperwork to uphold health, safety, and food safety standards. - Deliver outstanding customer service, adopting a proactive approach to all tasks. - Safely operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE), following all operational procedures. - Advocate for a positive health and safety culture, complying with company policies and safety protocols. - Use food-safe chemicals when working within fridge trailers, reporting any food safety concerns immediately. - Maintain a comprehensive audit trail of work completed, using electronic or paper records as necessary. Qualifications: - Core: IRTEC, City & Guilds in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or BTEC National Certificate in Vehicle Repair and Technology, with a focus on Heavy Goods Vehicles. - Desirable: Additional qualifications relevant to the HGV maintenance industry. Experience: - Core: In-depth knowledge of HGV technology and a structured, organized approach to maintenance tasks. - Desirable: Previous experience in a similar HGV Technician role within the logistics or related industry. Other Criteria: - Excellent communication and customer service skills, capable of working effectively with teams and clients. - Physical capability to handle the demands of HGV maintenance. - Proficiency in English for clear communication with planning teams, operations teams, and customers. - Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
