This is an exciting opportunity to join the University of Manchester Counselling and Mental Health Service as a Senior Counsellor. We are a multi-disciplinary team of Counsellors, Senior Counsellors, Mental Health Practitioners and other support staff providing a range of psychological interventions for both students and staff at the University of Manchester. This includes 1-1 sessions as well as the delivery of a comprehensive programme of therapeutic groups and psycho-educational workshops.
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent and be a counsellor or psychological therapist trained to at least diploma level with a minimum of 3000 post qualifying clinical hours. You will have recent experience of carrying a significant case load of 20-25 clients/week and be BACP, BABCP, UKCP or BPS accredited (or eligible for) or equivalent professional body.
You will have substantial experience of assessing for and working with risk and complexity within a brief framework.
You will provide brief, formulation driven counselling for students and staff using a clear relational or cognitive model. You will have significant post qualifying experience in brief counselling or therapy with a particular focus on higher education or crisis settings and will be confident in taking a lead role in service delivery, supporting colleagues and offering supervision and training as appropriate.
We operate on campus and in-person with some remote appointment provision depending on need and circumstance at the time.
