DC Team Leader Full Time, 5 over 7, Rotating shifts Key Purpose of Role

Team Leaders support the operational team ensuring all colleagues are motivated, engaged and focussed upon customer service, safety and operational efficiency.

Reporting to First Line Managers and Operations Team Manager the role key accountabilities are: Key Accountabilities

  • Ensuring the safety of all colleagues on site by adhering to the COVID 19 working practices and safety guidelines

  • The daily management of a variety of Distribution Centre functions including Goods Inwards, Pick and Goods Out

  • Conducting daily briefings to warehouse colleagues to cascade information relating to tasks, safety issues and any business updates

  • Effective leadership of warehouse colleagues

  • Motivating colleagues and driving a culture of continuous improvement,health and safety and service focus

  • Ensuring all stock movements are accurately completed using the NAVISION (WMS) system.

  • Ensuring that all tasks are undertaken safely and are completed to schedule by appropriately trained colleagues

  • Contribute to the management of safety on site ensuring all accidents and incidents are reported and acted on accordingly including undertaking accident investigations where necessary

  • Supporting the operation in running the department for the shift and rotating weekly (or as agreed) on a 6-2, 2-10 basis

  • Reporting as directed on the performance ofthe shift, focussing on meeting agreed targets and goals and taking appropriate corrective action(s)

  • Support First Line Managers and Operations Team Managers to manage absence across the Distribution Centre undertaking Return to Work meetings and undertaking investigations

  • Dealing with low level misconduct issues and undertaking disciplinary investigations under the guidance of the People Manager

  • Dealing with day to day issues raised by colleagues Essential Skills and Behaviours required :

  • Problem identification and resolution of operational issues at ‘ground’ level

  • Promoting a culture of Safety and Continuous Improvement

  • Experience in Navision WMS (warehouse management system) or similar

  • Use of hand held terminals, picking, put away and periodic stock counting activities

  • Experience of managing teams including setting rotas, holiday planning and identifying performance and conduct issues

  • Energetic, motivational and empathetic

  • Flexible to varied tasks & shift patterns

  • Good understanding of safe working practices within a warehouse environment
