Behaviour Support Assistant Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 support for young students with social, emotional, and mental health needs. Support the delivery of in-class activities, promoting independent learning where possible, and encouraging appropriate social skills. Work alongside the teaching staff to support pupil behaviour, learning and personal development. Build a trusting relationship and rapport with the student to help re-engage them with their learning in a safe and caring environment. Help the student to replace their feelings of failure and frustration with a sense of belonging and success. Behaviour Support Officer Requirements : Experience working with children or young people, preferably in a school or residential setting. Be knowledgeable or different complex needs, associated learning difficulties and challenging behaviours. Knowledge and understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies such as Team Teach, NAPPI or MAPPA. Be able to work collaboratively with staff members and outside agencies, such as counsellors and mental health professionals. Have an Enhanced Child Only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
