Group Learning Support is a large team with over 90 staff supporting students in a variety of different roles. The needs we support range from profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) on supported pathways programmes to those undertaking A-levels cross college.Staff can expect to support in a range of sessions including GCSE’s, Lifeskills Programmes, A-levels and many more.We offer robust training to support staff in their role and career development. Some of this training may involve personal care, people moving and handling, exam access arrangements, emotional literacy support, academic, medical, therapy and preparation for employment and independence. About the roleAs a teaching assistant at Activate Learning, you will have experience of working with young people or adults with a range of severe, complex, and moderate learning difficulties and/or disabilities and/or behavioural needs.You will be an individual who has the resilience and patience to develop independence in learners and to encourage them to take more responsibility for their own learning.Teaching Assistants offer essential help to teachers within the classroom and support to staff within our campuses, it is essential that you have a co-operative working style with the ability to work as part of a team.The main duties will be assisting students in their classroom-based lessons and supporting self-directed study times with the student on a 1:1 basis. In addition to a student's study programme the LSA may also be following a bespoke programme of learning to support their development of life skills, independence, and employability.You will be able to provide support to students with Autism and associated difficulties; some of which are complex. You will have good communication skills to be able to work with tutors to ensure the delivery of an effective programme of further education and to work as part of a co-ordination team.What do you need to be a successful Teaching Assistant at Activate Learning? As a teaching assistant you will: E Literate and competent in IT packages e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PublisherYou will have a creative approach to motivating learners and an innovative approach to delivering supportExperience of working in an FE environment would be advantageous but it is not essentialA level 3 Support Assistant qualification or equivalent but this is not essential This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who would like to develop their own skills as a teaching assistant or to progress in the education sector as a teacher Activate offer clear pathways for career progression.Why work with the Activate Learning Group?
