Principal HydrogeologistWe are looking for a Principal Hydrogeologist to join our Environmental Compliance and Ground Engineering Team.Purpose of Role:Responsible for the management of the Water Science (Hydrogeology/ Hydrochemistry) of the SW Environment Team. Acting as a Project Manager, contributing towards the success of the office through the effective and efficient delivery of projects, development of key client relationships and the securing of new business.Key contacts relationshipsInternal:SW Environment Team Section Heads and Directors Associated Technical teams across the Region and DivisionSupport Functions (Finance, HR, Bids and Marketing)External:Existing and New ClientsEnvironment AgencyNatural Resources WalesKey responsibilitiesPlan, review and manage own projects ensuring client requirements and deadlines are met in accordance with the QA systemTake accountability for own projects, monitoring both performance and financesQuality control the output of projects in accordance with the approved QA system including preparing project plans and fee agreementsEnsure quality advice is provided and work meets the required standardContributing to the development of the SW Environment Team business including work winning and marketingProvide weekly/monthly reports as requested by Technical DirectorSupport client management in conjunction with DirectorsResponsible for signing timesheets / holidays of staff responsible forResponsible for interfacing with other section heads and Directors to ensure appropriate use and deployment of staff and resources to meet the team's operational and project needsi Undertake appraisals and development of direct staff reporteesi Supervise and support junior members of staff where relevantPerson SpecificationLeadership skills and ability to manage a teamStrong report writing skillsGood communication (written and verbal) and presentation skillsAbility to support / supervise junior members of the teamGood financial and project management skillsAbility to build and maintain working relationships both internally and externallyAbility to identify opportunities for securing new business / clientsResponsible for contributing towards own professional developmentGood technical knowledge in area of expertiseWhat’s in it for you?
