Location Gravesend Contract type Permanent (Part time) Closing date 30 May 2024 Interview date 21 June 2024 Job Description There are two core elements to the role:•External – development focus; increasing participation in rugby, cricket and tennis and driving recruitment. – a focus on Junior rugby for Boys & Girls with a strong emphasis on local schools and the community•Internal – club focus; oMini & Youth - Supporting the implementation of the M&Y strategy including, but not limited to, developing coaches, leading sessions as required and providing skill specific parachute coaching when needed.oAdult - Deliver high quality, player-centred coaching session drive up participation in Social and Touch Rugby. Assist senior coaching as required.oPlayer coach – to the extent the successful candidate wishes to be considered in a player coach capacity this will be subject to separate agreement.The working hours are to some extent flexible ; the candidate will have a degree of control on when they work but good availability on at least two daytimes, evening and weekends Any support provided to Mini and Youth will require Sunday AM participation. Primary PurposeThe purpose of the role is to •Increase participation of targeted age grade rugby across boys and girls promoting everything that Gravesend RFC has to offer.•Increase participation in summer sports (cricket and tennis during the off-season)•Promote and deliver coaching sessions for Social and Touch Rugby increasing participation and outreach in the locality.Roles and Responsibilities•Organise, promote and implement rugby, cricket, tennis sessions for local primary and secondary schools•Build relationships between local primary and secondary schools and Gravesend RFC•Work with the M&Y Head Coach and Girls Development coach to plan and run targeted recruitment events for age grade boys and girls•Prepare and lead coaching sessions for M&Y teams as required.•Provide a focus on social rugby and other forms of rugby i.e. Touch or Walking to increase participation and membership at the clubDeliver coaching sessions across these different areas•Support Senior coaching team as appropriate.•Work closely with Section leads within the Club to develop a coherent strategy for future membership and recruitment.•Ensure the health and safety of all participants, including risk assessments and complying with RFU and School safeguarding policies and practices.•Administer the community development scheme, track school sessions delivered, generate invoices and track payment due.Qualifications, skills and experience•England Rugby Coaching Award qualification (or suitable experience, and willing to work towards RFU coaching qualification)•Coaching experience, preferable in rugby union•Playing experience, preferable in rugby union•Experience working with children and teenagers•Must be able to pass DBS check•IT literate•Demonstrate a positive attitude, enthusiasm and drive•Full driving license and access to a car
