What can you expect in your day-to-day role?

We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our esteemed national team, focusing on client support primarily in the Midlands and South regions. As a Passive Fire Surveyor, you will hold a pivotal position within our company. This role is instrumental in providing vital technical guidance both internally and to external clients of Fire Consultancy Specialists, building strong client relationships and uncovering potential opportunities for further operations. Your responsibilities will encompass offering comprehensive support to the Head of Independent Fire Safety Inspection Team, and Technical Director, whether on-site or in the development of policies, processes, and the desired corporate culture. Leading by example, you will help establish the foundational standards at Fire Consultancy Specialists, emphasising quality over quantity.

In this role, you will engage regularly with client enquiries, prioritising customer-centricity at all times. Moreover, participation in virtual and in-person design and scope meetings, as well as familiarisation site visits, will be essential.

  • Assisting with conducting independent fire safety inspections on-site for clients.
  • Offering internal technical guidance aligned with policy to the Independent Fire Safety Inspection Team.
  • Engaging with clients on new contracts, delivering and defining scopes of work as necessary.
  • Ensuring quality assurance in accordance with Fire Consultancy Specialists Policies and Procedures.
  • Managing PlanRadar quality assurance and developing inspection programs.
  • Offering on-site support to clients as required.
  • Collaborating with clients on all matters related to passive fire protection, including compartmentation, independent fire inspections, and projects.
  • Assigning tasks to subcontractors as deemed necessary.
  • Cultivating client relationships to develop ongoing partnerships and facilitate contract expansion.
  • Demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills and showcasing a track record of establishing and maintaining strong connections with colleagues, clients, and contractors. Attendance at both internal and external design team meetings will be expected.

**Technical Skills we would like to see from you:

  • Understanding of fire risk assessments, building regulations, BS Standards, Health and Safety Regulations, and all current legislations.
  • Familiarity with the manufacturers of passive fire protection products (Intumescent Coatings, Dampers, Fire Doors or Firestopping).
  • Understanding of the procedures involved from initial enquiry to practical completion.
  • Membership in a recognised professional fire safety organisation such as the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) and/or Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM).
  • Capable of conducting precise passive fire inspections on-site, encompassing both existing buildings and construction sites, to ensure proper installation in alignment with certified details and manufacturer's instructions.
  • Competent in site inspections, surveys, and building audits pertaining to passive fire protection, including fire stopping and cavity barriers.
  • Ensure that passive fire protection within buildings adheres to certified details, fire test reports, and manufacturers' installation instructions.
