job details Are you experienced within the Health and Safety sector? Do you consider yourself to be approachable and a strong communicator? Are you based in or around Port Talbot? We have a Safety Officer role available within TATA Steel, one of the leading steel manufacturers in the UK. This role is ideal for someone with a Health and Safety background, holding a NEBOSH qualification and is IT Literate. Role: Safety OfficerLocation: TATA Steel, Port Talbot SA13 2NG(Potential for some travel to TATA Llanwern works)Rate: £14.75ph(annual salary £28,000)Contract length: 6 months initiallyShift Patterns: Mon-Fri, 08:00-16:15, 36.5 hours per week Start: ASAPResponsibilities:Investigating accidents, incidents and near missesConducting Health and Safety audits as requiredAdhering to current Health and Safety legislation at all times and promoting this to others within the organisationDeveloping and deploying new safety initiatives Providing advice and assistance on all Health and Safety matters within the department Liaising with key internal stakeholders including but not exhaustive of; Asbestos coordinators, TATA union representatives, senior management and the Health and Safety Manager Conducting site visits, investigations, audits and safety conversationsAny other administrative support as required to aid the department Essential requirements:NEBOSH general certificate Professional membership of IOSH, working towards tech membership Up to date knowledge on current Health and Safety legislationKnowledge of IOSH blueprint frameworkDriving Licence and use of a vehicle Strong verbal and written communication skills IT literacy especially with MS Office and TEAMSComfortable mentoring and coaching colleagues Ability to work independently and within a team environmentStrong organisational skills Benefits:Advice and editing on your current CVDedicated team throughout your journey within the rolePaid holidayExclusive online services including restaurant and retail discountsChance to receive £300* for referring a friendOpportunity for progression into permanent roles Competitive rates of pay Continued personal development through ELearning platforms All applicants are subject to employment checks including but not limited to: Right to work and employment references.
