Due to expansion, Newbury Manor School are looking to recruit an outstanding Secondary Teacher to join our Teaching team! We are looking for an ambitious, energetic and committed teacher who will expand the learning experiences of our pupils. The successful candidate will be teaching and supporting our young people who may have autism, emotional behavioural difficulties, ADHD and associated complex needs. We are looking for a teacher who is able to teach Maths and ICT, but we would consider other specialisms for the right candidate. We offer a free mini bus service from Frome to the school. Newbury Manor School is a specialist school for young people aged 7 to 19 with autistic spectrum disorders (ASD). The school is located in a Georgian manor house set in extensive grounds with outbuildings in a beautiful, rural location near Frome in Somerset. Our tailored approach means we are able to support young people with a wide range of needs, from those who are broadly average in their ability to others, who have more severe learning difficulties. We provide an environment where young people are offered safe, secure and predictable surroundings in which they can come to understand their own areas of difficulty and learn skills and techniques to overcome them. You will be required to carry out the professional duties covered by the latest School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document. The post holder will be expected to undertake duties in line with the professional standards for qualified teachers and uphold the professional code of the General Teaching Council for England. Teach a class of young people, and ensure that planning, preparation, recording, assessment and reporting meet their varying learning and social needs. Have significant experience of using recognised and appropriate teaching strategies for our students who have Special Educational Needs (SEN). Provide timely and accurate reports to all stakeholders including the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), Governors (as required) and parents / carers. Keep accurate up to date records of assessments of learning and progress of each student and match against aspirational and appropriate targets. Maintain the positive ethos and core values of the school, both inside and outside the classroom. Work cohesively with key workers and the in-house therapeutic team to follow care plans and assist in creating educational schemes of work. Communication Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs. Good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff. Organisation You will have experience of organising, planning and teaching well-structured lessons tailored to the needs of the pupils as well as monitoring each students learning needs, adapting teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of each pupil.
