Role purpose

To work in co-ordination with the other elements of The Alnwick Garden & Lilidorei to delight our customers. Primarily by the promotion of a safe and clean environment, a friendly and professional welcome and assistance, and the ability to provide information to enable them to gain the most from their visit to The Alnwick Garden, Lilidorei and the local area

Overview

The Alnwick Garden is an award-winning visitor attraction, and charity, located in Alnwick Northumberland. With excess of 360,00 visitors annually The Garden is commercially driven, and visitor focused; whilst also operating as a charity (with associated values) - this provides a unique culture.

The latest addition to The Alnwick Garden offer is Lilidorei - due to open in Spring 2023; Lilidorei is the brainchild of The Duchess of Northumberland and is a multimillion-pound fantasy-themed recreational attraction located in the heart of Alnwick and will be part of The Alnwick Garden.

The attraction will consist of the largest play structure of its kind, which will include fairy grottos and goblin lairs providing families, particularly children, a unique place full of fun, an imaginative experience of storytelling and outdoor adventures.

One of the main aims of Lilidorei is to encourage children to explore and to nurture their imaginative and creative minds. The play structure includes an enchanted village housing various fantasy, folklore, and mystical characters such as goblins, hobgoblins, dwarves, elves, fairies, pixies and sprites. In addition, it will also have the biggest slide in the world.

Duties and Responsibilities

Report ready to work as allocated on the rota or as requested by The Visitor Operations Manager.

To dress as required and ensure you always present a friendly and professional image.

To provide friendly assistance and control at the entrance, exit and on site for visitors.

The allocation and control of cars and vehicles to site.

To operate and maintain any equipment issued to you for the effective conduct of your duties: radios, scanners, uniform etc.

To handle payments in a professional manner.

Deliver world class customer service.

To attend any training or meetings as requested by the Visitor Operations Manager

Be prepared to work in evening and weekend activities as and when necessary

Distribute and conduct clear induction to visitors requiring the use of motorised scooters and wheelchairs.

Ensure that the correct procedure is followed whilst dealing with missing children, administering first aid if qualified and site evacuation.

Keep up to date on knowledge of The Alnwick Garden and the surrounding area.

You must comply with health and safety, equal opportunities, welfare at work and security.

Any other duties assigned to you.

Person Specification

The successful applicant will have

Experience of working in a customer service environment.

Excellent communication skills

The ability to remain calm under pressure

The capacity to work collaboratively and enthusiastically with teams and individuals at all levels of the organisation

Possess an outgoing and friendly personality.

Ability to work in a values driven organisation

Be reliable and punctual.
