We are searching for an assistant project manager to join our Tunbridge Wells project management team. Your role in this team would be to assist with the delivery of construction projects in South London, Kent & Sussex, with the view to developing into an autonomous, client facing project management specialist. You will be joining a small, diverse team of Project Managers who work as part of a multi-disciplinary business of 25 based in the centre of Royal Tunbridge Wells. Your responsibilities will include: Supporting the Project Management Directors and wider team in delivering business objectives Positively engaging with customers and developing, growing and maintaining customer relationships Supporting the management of construction projects to deliver high quality services, and developing skills & knowledge to deliver projects independently Assisting with contract administration, and developing your contract administration skills Presenting to customers with support from senior project managers Advising directors promptly of any issues that have arisen, or may arise, on projects; in particular those that might impact on Gleeds professional indemnity (PI) insurance. You will ideally be be working towards a professional construction membership such as the RICS, CIOB or APM. You will need experience in project management within the built environment. Residential, defence or public sector construction experience would be a bonus, but by no means essential. Experience working for a construction consultancy would also be advantageous. Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills:To be successful in this role you will need: Existing Project Management experience in the construction industry A base knowledge of project management techniques, ideally with some practical experience managing projects An understanding of construction contracts, preferably with practical experience working with JCT or NEC3 contracts Excellent communication skills - both oral and written. Methodical way of thinking and approach to work. Ability to absorb complex information and assess requirements readily. Proficient problem solving, negotiating, financial and numeracy skills Sound ICT skills, with a high proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Ability to work as part of a team. QualificationsWhilst no professional qualifications are required for this role, an RICS, CIOB or APM accredited bachelors or Masters degree in a construction, real estate of Project Management subject is desireable, and will help towards future professional qualification.
