Description About you The Engineering Manager will be responsible for successfully delivering engineering activities to time, cost and quality across all engineering aspects; providing engineering leadership to the multi-disciplinary project team; ensuring solutions meet their requirements / are fit for purpose; and providing technical governance to other programs as required.An experienced Engineering Manager is sought, with an extensive background in delivery of R&D projects.  Experience of taking a project from a low Technology Readiness Level (TRL) through to production is required.The Engineer Manager will provide Engineering leadership for a multi-disciplinary team to:Define and describe the Technical Solution during bids or project scope changes; support the Programme Manager in cost estimation, approving the estimated cost and schedule.Provide the primary technical interface to Customers and Partners.Managing project mobilisation of engineering activities, including the definition of delivery strategies, definition of Work and Organisation Breakdown Structures, resource requirements and agreement of work-packages.Provide oversight of estimation of engineering work packages.Planning and managing engineering activities to ensure delivery to time, cost and quality requirements.Identification of all resources (people, tools and process) required to deliver the projects.Identifying, assessing and mitigating engineering and technical risk.Ensuring engineering projects are managed in accordance with company process.Working with the Programme Manager to successfully deliver solutions that meet the Customer’s needs / requirements to cost / schedule.Coaching and mentoring of other engineers.Lead or Chair technical and design reviews.Support the continuous improvement of the Engineering function.Skills, Qualifications and Experience as an Engineering Manager Required Skills:Bachelor's Degree in Maths, Physics, Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience.Candidate must be capable of acquiring security clearance.Experience in managing Engineering projects experience within a low TRL environment.Desired Skills:Chartered Engineer or equivalentMaster's Degree an assetMaritime Domain experience an advantage but not necessaryUnderwater Warfare, Torpedo Defence or Acoustics knowledge an advantageSystem Engineering lifecycle selection and experience in all phases of itDelivery to Defence customers, including design and qualification to military standardsEngineering management of a multi-disciplinary teams to successfully deliver complex solutions using new technologyLed multiple Design ReviewsSupervised the Requirements Phase of multiple programmesSupervised the System, Preliminary and Critical Design Phases for multiple programmesTechnical management of subcontractorsSupervised the transition from design into production for multiple programmesSupervised Integration, Verification and Validation activitiesKnowledge of System Engineering lifecyclesSupervise an interdisciplinary team and manage the perspectives of disciplinesA team-oriented individual that works collaboratively to achieve team goalsStrong communication skills; positive attitudeMust be self-motivated, adaptable, and attentive to detailsWilling to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a deadline-oriented environmentOccasional travel within UK and Overseas#CVL#MAR#LI-SS#LI-HybridEvery employee is critical to our success and as such we offer a range of flexible employee benefits along with career development opportunities.
