THE BUSINESS


Our client is a component supplier to the energy transition market and are aiding the evolution of key clients into the renewables space. The organisation in question has a long-standing history in the region. They have low attrition rates and the majority of those who work for the organisation have long service awards. This is a high-tech facility with the business employing around 200 staff.

Westray Recruitment Group is seeking to recruit an Engineering Supervisor to work a continental shift pattern (3 x 12 hour shifts per week, rotating week to week 6am/6pm start times, days and nights) on a permanent contract based in the Teesside area.

THE ROLE


This is a front-line supervisor position offering twenty-four-hour engineering cover with the jobholder being responsible for supervising a multi-disciplined team of craft personnel to maximise plant availability and performance.


  • Working a hands-on role helping to deliver planned and reactive maintenance to the facility
  • First line Supervision - holding responsibility on shift for a team of 6 reports (Mechanical/Electrical Engineers) delivering “soft” HR practices such as first line supervision, work allocation, escalations, appraisals and training, etc.
  • To determine engineering priorities, as directed by the Engineers to optimise plant availability for production and maintenance.
  • To organise labour and contractors to maximise their utilisation and meet agreed priorities.
  • To inspect plant and equipment to meet scheduled and statutory requirements and ensure that any faults identified are remedied.
  • To oversee maintenance staff and contractors to ensure that they are performing their tasks safely and efficiently and ensure that standards of discipline and attendance/timekeeping of the workforce are maintained at an acceptable level.
  • To diagnose and rectify major faults as they occur in order to maintain production.
  • To arrange for spares and materials to be available to satisfy the needs of the maintenance schedule, subject to stores stock.
  • To ensure that work conforms to accepted engineering standards and recommend improvements to these when appropriate.




THE PERSON


  • Either qualified to degree level or equivalent in an engineering discipline or a time served craftsperson holding qualifications to HND/HNC level with appropriate technical and leadership experience, you will have significant, demonstrable experience in a similar engineering role.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills
  • Strong communication Skills
  • Able to work well in a fast, high paced, customer focused environment.
  • Hands on individual
  • Experienced working with hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, valves and motors
  • Heavy Industrial background preferred
  • Multi-skilled background, Electrical Bias Preferred
  • The ability to utilise PLC’s for fault finding and diagnostics (Siemens & Allen Bradley)
  • Experienced maintaining plant-based equipment such as automated systems, burning machines, roller tables, conveyors, presses and welding machinery
  • Ability to manage contractors and issue permits
  • Strong people management and leadership skills
