I am currently recruiting for 3 x Collisions Section Case Hand to work for Devon and Cornwall Police out of their Crownhill Police Station in Plymouth.

To provide an efficient and effective administrative service for the processing and recording of all collision files and ticket offences, the disclosure to 3rd parties in relation to civil litigation claims for collisions and the processing and ownership of conditional cautions Forcewide.

Principal Responsibility

  • Maintain accurate files, inputting NCRF records on the force computer systems, dealing with any enquiries and duties in relation to collisions as directed by their line supervisor.
  • Deal with telephone and other enquiries and specialist requests covering a range of details gathered as a result of the collision and which may come from partner agencies such as the local authorities or the Highways Agency, insurance companies, solicitors and from members of the public relating to their own collisions and civil claims.
  • Research and update Force databases and other record management systems in response to these enquiries.
  • Deal with all post and admin functions within the unit.
  • Monitor systems and their outputs on a daily basis to ensure case progression, undertaking additional enquiries of systems and databases as necessary to ensure progression meets required timescales.
  • Input and maintain Pentip Offence records which require detailed nominal matching and also the input and case management of collision files on AccsMap and the management of all associated diversionary courses.
  • Deal with and input PNDs on Pentip as directed, dealing with enquiries related to PNDs.
  • Deal with officers and Youth Offending Teams in relation to the management of conditional cautions

Role-Specific Training and CPD to be undertaken.

Appropriate force and bespoke IT systems. Current or planned systems include

  • PNC, CIS, Storm, GIS, NSPIS

  • PENTIP - Ticket recording system; NDORS - Driver rectification system:

  • NAVICOM - Service providers system; Accsmap (Buchanan) - Collisions recording system

  • Relative sections of MoPI and the Data Protection Act

  • Force Information-sharing protocols

  • Information Disclosure training

  • Road Traffic Act 1988 training

Essential experience and specialist skills and knowledge

  • Proven ability with Microsoft 'Office' and in manipulating databases
  • Demonstrably effective customer care skills
  • Knowledge of the RTA 1988
  • An understanding of the principles around disclosure.
  • Proven ability to analyse information from a number of sources and to make sound decisions based on that analysis
  • Demonstrable ability to draft well structured letters and reports outlining a particular rationale or justification for a decision
