The Role

An opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Manager based at our Great Heck site in East Yorkshire.

Primary responsibility of the role involves managing and coordinating the maintenance of two rotary kilns and associated pre and post material processing equipment, whilst being a key member of the site Health and Safety Team.

 

Duties of the role require the management of:

  • Current maintenance Team.
  • Current Planned Preventative Maintenance scheme.
  • Current Health and Safety Systems.
  • Process improvement, by means of identification and proposal.
  • Small scale improvement projects; justification, implementation, and appraisal.
  • Spare part stock and procurement.

 

To fulfil these criteria it is expected the candidate will:

  • Evaluate mechanical, electromechanical and electrical systems to identify performance, diagnose faults and look for operational improvement.
  • Appreciate system (product and process) requirements to enable efficiency improvement.
  • Understand process and equipment measurements to evaluate performance, to enable discussion of operating conditions / parameters.
  • Prioritise and plan work demand.
  • Maintain and update personal technical knowledge of engineering systems.
  • Have the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Present good problem-solving skills and a creative approach for new ideas.
  • Show a high level of commercial awareness and product appreciation.

The candidate

A degree of physical activity is intrinsic within this role, including manual handling of large machinery parts/components and other equipment, negotiating steps/ladders/vertical ladders and above ground open-mesh floor walkways, accessing various areas of production machinery, at times the use of hand/pneumatic tools. There is also a requirement to wear items of personal protective equipment, (PPE), including, for certain tasks, respiratory protective equipment.
