Front End Engineer Multiple Levels

  • Edinburgh
  • Cathcart Associates

A well-established agency/consultancy in Scotland is on the lookout for Front End Engineers of multiple levels (Mid-level, Senior, Principal & Lead). Like most companies, they were a bit quieter over lockdown but rather than just maintaining their relationshipswith clients, they improved these relationships. This has worked out amazing for them as they're now busier than ever with existing and new clients!

What will I be doing and who will I be working with?

Great question!

You'll be based within a supportive, collaborative environment that will allow you to develop and grow, whilst at the same time giving you free reign (within reason of course!) to build the Front End of projects in the way you want to.

The technical teams tend to be set-up with around 5/6 Engineers, a Product Owner, Designers, and a Tester. As a Front End Engineer, you'll be expected to bring the Designers' work to life through attractive user interfaces and strong user experiences.

Who am I?

The company are very much "tech agnostic" and care much more about your overall skills as an Engineer. They do work with very modern technologies so any exposure to modern Front End frameworks would be a massive bonus, as well as a working knowledge of UX/UIprinciples!

Don't worry, this isn't one of those organisations who wants a ninja, superstar, superherojust someone that is fanatical about their craft. They also don't care if you are self-taught, have a degree, worked as a Scientist or a pro sportsperson in a previouslife! They know good developers come from all sorts of different backgrounds.

As mentioned, the company are looking for Front End Engineers from mid-level all the way up to lead and have several positions available. For the more senior roles, experience of leading/managing teams will be required!

What are the benefits and where will I be based?

This is probably worth knowing before applying. There is no hard ceiling with salary for these roles so anything up to the £80,000 mark is doable, with the potential to stretch that for someone that is a perfect fit. The company also boast a very strongbenefits package with one of the best pension schemes that I've seen, along with other benefits such as gym membership, medical cover and much more.

As mentioned, they have offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow City Centre but have a remote first approach. They will require some office commitment for meetings but this shouldn't be too frequent. Interviewing and on-boarding will be done remotely.
